Live usability testing

A standard live usability test includes all of the following:

• Test Goals: We work with you to identify areas of focus for your product.
• Target Audience: We help identify who the target users are
• Test Plan Review: We will draft up a plan for user testing sessions, and give you a chance to review, if you wish.
• Recruiting: We will recruit users for the sessions, and schedule them across a short time span.
• Testing days: User sessions will be recorded for clients to watch. We also will have notes from the session for quicker review.
• Analysis and Report: Our team will analyze the results and create a presentation about areas for improvement. We can also make design recommendations on how to address those areas.

A test can be conducted in 1-3 weeks.

Expert Reviews

In many cases, we as usability professionals, can identify before testing areas for improvement. This is a quicker, lower cost approach to finding how to improve your website or product. We analyze your product against a list of design heuristics, and generate a list of items according to severity. We will present the findings in a report to you.

Other usability assessment methods

Depending on what your product or service is, there are many methods that can be used to assess effectiveness and satisfaction. Surveys, interviews, or a combination of methods can sometimes be appropriate. We will be able to advise on when it may be helpful to employ different techniques.
